Iloilo City will remain under the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) until May 15.
In a virtual press briefing on Thursday, April 30, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced that the city is included in the revised list of ECQ areas.
“Ang Iloilo City as kasama po sa ECQ list. Base po ‘yan sa dami ng kaso at kakayahan ng lugar na magbigay ng medical services,” he explained.
The city currently has nine confirmed cases of COVID-19. The total number includes two recoveries and one death.
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas said the city government would follow the directive from the national government.
“As your City Mayor, I do not want to jeopardize the health and welfare of the Ilonggos. Every decision that we make is based on consultations, and always with the thought that lives are at stake,” he said.
“Rest assured we will continue to care for everyone, implement stringent measures and preventive initiatives so as to stop the spread of COVID-19in our beloved city,” he added.
Yesterday, April 29, Treñas issued a statement saying that the city’s ECQ status will be downgraded to general community quarantine (GCQ) after April 30.IMT
