Fresh from its formation, Elite Lab proved its dominance after sweeping the 21-Under and 17-Under titles of the 2022 Chairman’s Cup at the University of San Agustin Gym.
The John Guanco-mentored teams made a threatening appearance after beating Conce Crita Villa in the U-21, 81-73. Rolen John Pantin topscored the team with 31 points.
Prior to the finals clash, Elite Lab U-21 eliminated Atop in the semis, 63-47 while Conce Crita Villa hammered Hustle, 100-64.
The team was comprised of Dave Bagatnan, John Lester Amagan, Irele Galas, Matt Atanas, Roy Oscar Jacinto, Fritz Suclan, Gwyn Pendon, Ryan Futalan, Kent John Parreñas, Moises dela Cruz, Ryan Dellina, Laurence Chua, Lorenzo Yu, Kaime Cuntapay, Jaime Papa, and Renel Jopillo.
Meanwhile, Elite Lab bagged the 17-Under category title after a 92-35 victory over M&D Ros. JP Czar Gaspillo steered Elite Lab with 22 points.
Erlance Pedrita and Burgs Lapu-os were named as part of mythical team aside from Chad Cartel (M&D Ros), Villalobos (M&D Ros) and Acosta (Pototan).
The Elite Lab U-17 cagers were Shaun Guamela, Lorenzo Antonio Robles, Paul Jovan Santome, Samuel Madison, John Lloyd Martinez, Arlex Tiolo, Joardel Linga, Jason John Rodas, Dhael Vargas, Prinz Jurisprudencia, Karl Alfred Ferrer, Keith Lauron, Rojie Enderes and Arturo Teruel.
Team Manager Eugene Chua, said they form the team as they want to help aspiring youngsters to show their talent and skills in playing basketball and at the same time, to let them value hardwork for the future.
Comprised of 15 players ages 25 years old and below, Elite Lab houses former and current cagers from St. Robert’s International Academy (SRIA) and Western Institute and Technology (WIT).
“We have a lot of strengths and we need to improve slowly but surely. It will be a lesson to be learned and to be kept. We look forward to see each one of them play in Manila and probably in professional team someday,” Chua said.IMT Sports
