After almost two years, basketball fans will be entertained with a thrilling basketball match as Elite Lab basketball team will face University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons in a two-day exhibition match in Iloilo City and Passi City this month.
Elite Lab, fresh from winning the title in Negros clash, will challenge the UAAP men’s basketball champion.
Organized by Gametime, the matches will feature two teams that will first face each other at the City of Passi Arena at 3 p.m. on July 30, while Iloilo City match is to be held at University of San Agustin Gym at 4 p.m. on July 31.
Elite Lab co-founder Eugene Chua said they will definitely give UP a good fight.
“Knowing us and our boys, hindi gid kita mapabasta basta papirde in the sense na talent and skills plus ang desire to win ara gid na,” he shared.
Chua also revealed that they have tapped two foreign players in Chibueze Ikeh and Emmanuel Ojoula.
Ikeh was a former member of the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles, while Ojoula has suited up for the Far Eastern University Tamaraws last UAAP season.
Bannering the team, Elite Lab will be led by Irele Galas, Marvin Cuerbo, John Lester Amagan, Roy Oscar Jacinto, Zaldy Patizar, Gwyn Miles Pendon and Rolen John Pantin.
Coached by John Guanco, Kent John Parreñas, Moisis dela Cruz, Ryan Futalan, RJ Delina, Erlance Pedrita, Ghade Mark Lingga, King James Bardaloza and Laurence Chua will complete the Ilonggo team.
To recall, Elite Lab recently won championships in the Chairman’s Cup and JB ABL Basketball League and also in the 1st Mayor Joedith C. Gallego Invitational Basketball Tournament in Silay City, Negros Occidental last weekend.
“Coming from Negros Champion kita against Lasalle Bacolod as usual may game or wala sige sige man kami training para mag mayo pa gid and ma develop pa gid ang team work,” Chua added.
They will challenge Ilonggo guard Gerry Abadiano, who was a former player of Guanco at St. Roberts International Academy Panda Rockets before transferring to Manila.IMT Sports
