The patient, who was the first confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Iloilo City, has “completely recovered” from the disease.

In a statement issued on Friday, April 3, The Medical City Iloilo (TMCI) said the repeat test conducted on the patient, a 61-year-old woman from Mandurriao district, yielded a negative result.

The patient has been already discharged from TMCI. She is the first recovered COVID-19 patient not only in Iloilo but also in Panay Island.

“We acknowledge our healthcare workers, critical team and the entire TMC Iloilo workforce for the Bravery and kindness shown during these challenging times,” TMCI said.

“We also extend our gratitude to the City and Provincial Government, private companies, organizations and private individuals who supported us in ways that they can,” it added.

In a previous report by IMT NEWS, Dr. Mary Jane Juanico of the Department of Health (DOH-6), said the patient started experiencing COVID-19 symptoms (cough, fever, body aches, and diarrhea) on March 8. She was brought to the hospital on March 16.

The patient, according to Juanico, had a history of travel to Manila.

The DOH-6, as of April 2, recorded three confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Iloilo City. The second coronavirus-positive patient (72-year-old male) died while the third one (44-year-old male) is still being confined at a hospital.IMT
