The town of Dumangas logged the highest number of theft cases in the province of Iloilo in the first seven months of 2021.

Based on data from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), six of the 44 theft cases from January to July 30 this year were recorded in Dumangas.

Badiangan came in second with five cases, followed by Alimodian, Barotac Viejo, Bingawan, Leganes, New Lucena, Passi City, Pototan, San Miguel, and Zarraga with two cases each.

The towns of Ajuy, Anilao, Cabatuan, Calinog, Carles, Concepcion, Guimbal, Lambunao, Lemery, Miagao, Pavia, San Enrique, San Joaquin, Sara and Sta. Barbara registered one case each.

The number of theft cases in the province this year was higher compared to 41 cases recorded last year.

The IPPO also booked 42 cases of robbery, higher than last year’s 40 cases.

Police Master Sergeant Francisco Lindero Jr., IPPO spokesperson, said the provincial director, Police Colonel Gilbert Gorero, had already ordered an intensified intelligence monitoring on new groups behind the robbery and theft incidents in the province.IMT
