The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Western Visayas recently distributed livelihood assistance amounting to P2.6 million for the beneficiaries of the agency’s Livelihood Assistance Grant (LAG) in Passi City, Iloilo.
“We are glad to assist the beneficiaries into surviving this pandemic and optimistic that they will be able to sustain their livelihood projects for them to help themselves and their families,” DSWD-6 Regional Director Ma. Evelyn Macapobre said in a Facebook post.
According to DSWD-6, a total of 525 LAG beneficiaries are composed of sari-sari stores owners, fruits and vegetable sellers, meat and pork vendors, food merchants, LBGTQs, and solo parents.
LAG is one of the recovery and rehabilitation initiatives of the government meant to serve families whose jobs were affected due to the COVID-19 crisis.
Moreover, DSWD said that qualified beneficiaries to the LAG are provided with financial aid which prioritizes households with low-income or whose small businesses have been affected by the pandemic.LTP/LML-PIA6
