The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH-6) targets to open the 453.7-meter Ungka II Flyover to motorists by June this year.

The flyover in Barangay Ungka II, Pavia is now 82.38 percent complete, according to DPWH-6 director Tiburcio DL Canlas.

On April 25, a Topping Out Ceremony for the P680-million project was held.

The ceremony “is a celebratory affair that brings people to observe the progress made on site, ensuring successful completion of the undertaking, as well as an opportunity to thank the people involved in project implementation.”

It was led by, among others, Ilonggo Senator Franklin Drilon, City Mayor Jerry Treñas, Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr., Pavia Mayor Luigi Gorriceta, Second District Cong. Mike Gorriceta, and Canlas.

“This will contribute to the development of the local economy by easing traffic flow and lessening travel time within the locality,” the DPWH-6 said.

The flyover, which connects Jaro District in Iloilo City and Pavia, will reduce travel from the city to the Iloilo International Airport, vice versa, from 40-45 minutes to only 20 minutes.IMT
