Parts of Iloilo experienced hours of heavy rain on Wednesday, May 3, due to a low pressure area (LPA) embedded along the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).
According to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), the heavy rainfall affected at least 20 areas in the province.
Flooding and landslides were monitored in Passi City and the towns of Lambunao, Calinog, Dingle, and Barotac Nuevo.
These resulted in the evacuation of some families. There were no reported casualties or injuries as of Wednesday evening.
The Orange Rainfall Advisory was raised by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) in Iloilo and the rest of Western Visayas.
This means people should prepare for the possible threat of flooding in low-lying areas and near river channels.IMT
