The Department of Tourism (DOT-6) has assisted more than a thousand foreign tourists in Western Visayas affected by measures implemented to stop the further spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
As of April 3, a total of 1,363 foreign travelers availed of the DOT’s assistance, which includes the facilitation of flights to their home countries.
The DOT-6 started mounting flights for stranded tourists in the region last March 19. So far, it has initiated seven flights and assisted eight flights.
The agency also provided shuttle services, meals, and hygienic items to the tourists.
According to data from the DOT-6, 705 foreign tourists are still in region. They were advised to “to contact their respective embassies. IMT
