The Department of Health (DOH-6) is closely monitoring the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) situation in Passi City and four towns in the province of Iloilo.
Passi City has the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the province with 490, based on data released by the Provincial Health Office (PHO).
The province’s component city is currently under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), the strictest form of lockdown imposed by the government.
The figure, recorded since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March last year, includes 259 recoveries, three deaths, and 228 active cases or patients who are still infected with the coronavirus.
Oton has the second highest number of infections with 392 cases, of which 358 have recovered and nine have died.
Pavia came in third with 295 cases, including 271 recoveries and 10 deaths.
Overall, Iloilo logged 3,719 cases of COVID-19, including 3,102 recoveries and 105 deaths.
For the month of January alone, the PHO recorded 642 cases. Passi City accounted for 286 of the total infections and followed by San Joaquin (53).
The DOH-6 is also closely monitoring the situation in Sta. Barbara, which has 130 total COVID-19 cases, including 123 recoveries and five deaths.
These areas, according DOH-6 spokesperson Dr. Mary Jane Juanico, have an increasing trend in new cases.IMT
