Lambunao Mayor Reynor Gonzales has been diagnosed with dengue.1

The 69-year-old local chief executive was tested positive for mosquito-borne viral illness on July 22 after undergoing a laboratory procedure.

Gonzales said he is on his way to recovery. “There is nothing to worry about.”

Lambunao among the towns in Iloilo province with the highest cases of dengue. 

A total of 404 cases, including 3 deaths, were recorded in Lambunao from Jan. 1 to July 20, 2019, data from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) showed.

Pototan had the highest number of dengue cases with 986, including 4 deaths, followed by Passi City (482, including 1 death), Sara (436, including 1 death), and Concepcion (399, including 5 deaths).

The entire province is currently under a state of calamity due to dengue.

Dengue, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), “is a mosquito-borne viral infection causing a severe flu-like illness and, sometimes causing a potentially lethal complication called severe dengue.”

Its symptoms include fever, severe pain, headache, nausea, vomiting, and skin rashes.IMT
