A dengue patient in Iloilo City has tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), according to the City Health Office (CHO).

CHO’s Dr. Bernard Caspe said a 50-year-old female resident of Barangay North Baluarte in Molo district yielded a positive result following a swab test.

The CHO is puzzled how the woman, who was confined in a hospital due to dengue, got COVID-19.

Caspe said the patient was already released from the hospital when her test result came out on July 23.

A total of 10 persons who came in close contact with the infected woman underwent swab tests, according to Caspe.

As of July 27, the city has recorded 67 indigenous or local cases of COVID-19. The figure includes 38 recoveries, 4 deaths, and 25 active cases.IMT
