Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. advised mayors to “stay alert, coordinated, and ready for pre-emptive measures” against Typhoon Rolly.
“PAGASA rainfall forecast for November is above regular levels. And one month amount of rainfall can fall in just one day especially when there is a typhoon,” he said in an advisory.
On Sunday morning, Nov. 1, Defensor called for a meeting to prepare for Rolly, the world’s strongest typhoon so far this year.
The provincial government’s disaster team has been activated to monitor the weather situation in 42 towns and the component city of Passi
Defensor also instructed the Provincial Disaster Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO), Provincial Health Office, General Services Office (GSO) and other concerned offices “to undertake pre-emptive measures and to ensure that all the disaster equipment and relief operations are readily available in case the typhoon hits the province.”
Rolly was last spotted over the coastal waters of Mulanay, according PAGASA.
The typhoon is moving west at 25 kilometers per hour (kph) with maximum winds of 175 kph near center and gusts up to 240 kph.IMT
