Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. will attend the second State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Bongbong Marcos at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City next week.

In a media interview, Defensor said he accepted the invitation to attend Marcos’ SONA on July 24.

More in-person guests are expected to attend the SONA this year as the House of Representatives further eases its health protocols.

The President, under Article 7, Section 23 of the 1987 Constitution, is required to “address the Congress at the opening of its regular session”.

The SONA is usually delivered by the President every last Monday of July. The address assesses the state of the country, lays out the government’s agenda for the coming year, and suggests priority legislation.IMT
