A criminology student was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Maliao, Pavia town, Iloilo on June 14.
The suspect was identified as Novie James Javellana, 25 of Barangay Sinikway, Lapuz district, Iloilo City.
Seized from Javellana were some 20 grams of alleged “shabu” (crystal meth) worth P136 thousand, marked money amounting to P30 thousand, a mobile phone and a motorcycle.
The buy-bust operation was conducted by the joint elements of the Pavia Municipal Police Station led by Police Major Dadje Delima and the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) Intelligence Unit and Provincial Special Operations Group
The suspect, considered a high-value individual, is detained at the custodial facility of the town’s police station and will face complaints for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police Brigadier General Sidney N Villaflor, acting director of the Police Regional Office (PRO-6) lauded the successful operation.
“Ang tagumpay na ito ay patunay na hindi tayo tumitigil na labanan at sugpuin ang illegal na droga sa Western Visayas, sana po ay patuloy tayong magkaisa at magtulungan sa laban na ito para sa kapayapaan at kaunlaran ng lahat,” he said.IMT
