The number of crime incidents in the province and city of Iloilo decreased in the first eight months of 2022 compared to the same period a year ago.
Based on data from the Police Regional Office (PRO-6), the province recorded 1,871 peace and order-related crimes from January to August this year.
The figure was lower by 16.67 percent compared to 2,120 crimes registered last year.
In Iloilo City, crimes went down by 33.1 percent from 1,444 to 966.
The whole Western Visayas posted an 11.09 percent decrease in the number of crimes.
PRO-6 logged 7,045 crimes this year, lower compared to last year’s 7,924 crimes.
All provinces and cities in the region, except Negros Occidental, recorded lower crimes.IMT
