A student from Central Philippine University (CPU) made a resounding return in the international arena after winning two bronze medals in the 5th Asian Juniors Taekwondo Championships in Amman, Jordan on July 25, 2019. 

Representing the country’s taekwondo team, Cindy Joy Diasnes took home two bronze medals in the Team Junior Female and Freestyle Junior. 

“I’d like to thank A. Diasnes Gym Family, Central Philippine University and Golden Lions Family, Iloilo City, Iloilo, and Region 6B Taekwondo Community for this feat. I made a lot of sacrifices, long hours of training and being away from my family just to fulfill this victory,” she added. 

Diasnes had won countless medals in both local and national competitions. The mainstay of A. Diasnes Gym Taekwondo Learning Center and a 2nd Dan Blackbelter is a national referee, too. She is a member of the Philippine National Poomsae Team Member -Training Pool. She also captured numerous medals in the National Poomsae since 2014.

During the 2018 CPJ Poomsae, she bagged the silver medal. The 2-time Palarong Pambansa athlete is also a varsity player of CPU Golden Lions.

Meanwhile, Leigh Andee Rodriguez of Bacolod City also won a bronze medal in Poomsae event – cadet female bantamweight category. Poomsae is comprised of basic attack and defense motions associated with the martial art.

In addition, Bacolodnon athlete, Jamie Hannah Agaloos took home two bronze medals in the cadet event, winning in the individual female and team categories.IMT
