Voters who are infected with COVID-19 will not be prevented from casting their votes in the May 9 elections, according to Jonathan Sayno of the COMELEC-Iloilo City.
In an interview on IMT Conversations, Sayno said they will set up isolated voting precincts for infected voters and those who have symptoms of the disease.
“Bisan positive ka sa COVID-19 kon kaya mo nga magkadto, batunon ka kay wala sa aton layi nga indi pagpabotohon ang isa ka botante nga confirmed nga positive sya sa COVID-19. Pabotohon gid sya provided nga i-isolate sya.”
There is also no need to present vaccination cards upon entering polling centers.
Sayno said it is unconstitutional to prohibit unvaccinated individuals from participating in the upcoming polls.
The poll body will strictly implement minimum health standards, including the use of face masks observing physical distancing, and frequent handwashing on Election Day.
The city has a total of 330,470 registered voters and 64 voting centers located in public schools.
Each voting center is required to have at least one isolated voting precint.IMT
