Iloilo recorded an additional fatality, raising the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) death toll in the province and city to two.

Dr. Jane Juanico of the Department of Health (DOH-6) confirmed on Monday morning, March 30, the death of a COVID-19 patient from the town of Lambunao.

The 70-year-old man died on Saturday evening, March 29, while being treated at a hospital in Iloilo City.

The patient had underlying conditions, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and diabetes.

Juanico said the patient had no travel history but had a history of direct exposure to a relative from Thailand. 

The first COVID-19 fatality in Iloilo was a 72-year-old man from a village in Iloilo City. He died on March 21 (not March 19).

The patient, who had a travel history to Manila, experienced cough and fever.

Currently, there are four positive cases in the province while two in the city of Iloilo.IMT
