Western Visayas now has more than 30,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The Department of Health (DOH-6) reported 345 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, April 12, jacking up the region’s total case count to 30, 178.

Negros Occidental accounted for the most number of additional infections in the region at 256.

Bacolod City had the second-highest number of new cases with 42, followed by Iloilo province, 23; Aklan, 10; Antique, 8; Iloilo City, 5; and Guimaras, 1.

Capiz registered zero new cases of the viral disease.

There were also 122 new recoveries and 4 new deaths in the region, raising the total of recoveries and death toll to 25,999 and 807, respectively, the latest DOH-6 data showed.

Active cases or patients who are still infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, currently stand at 3,366.

Of the number, 1,515 came from Negros Occidental, 456 from Bacolod City, 381 from Iloilo province, 337 from Iloilo City, 392 from Antique, 211 from Aklan, 67 from Capiz, and 7 from Guimaras.IMT
