The number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Iloilo City has significantly decreased, data from the city government showed.
The City COVID-19 Team recorded 135 confirmed cases from November 1 to 9, lower by 75 percent compared to 535 cases in the same period last month.
The average number of daily cases in the city also declined to 15 in the first week of the month.
Meanwhile, the city posted a recovery rate of 95 percent.
As of November 9, the city government logged 4,153 COVID-19 cases, of which 3, 691 have recovered and 98 have died.
Mayor Jerry Treñas called on the public to continue to be vigilant against COVID-19 despite the decrease in the reproductive rate of the disease in the city.
“Nakit-an naton sa survey sang RACI, while iban naintindihan nila kon ano ang minimum health protocols, kalabanan naga-isip nga para lang ini sa minors and seniors amo na ga-apelar gid kita sa aton tanan nga pumuluyo nga siguraduhon nila nga tanan gasunod health protocols,” he appealed.
Commissioned by Treñas, the survey showed that majority of Ilonggos believe that they are not prone to COVID-19.
The survey was conducted by Random Access Consultants Inc. (RACI) from Oct. 24 to 27 in 60 barangays. It was participated in by 200 residents aged 18 years old and above.IMT
