The number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Western Visayas continues to increase.
The Department of Health (DOH-6) reported on Wednesday, April 1, three new cases of the disease in the region.
The additional COVID-19 patients include the following:
◾44 year-old-female from Iloilo province
◾26-year-old female from Aklan
◾62-year-old female from Bacolod City
The region now has 25 positives cases. Seven of the total number are from Iloilo province, 6 from Bacolod City, 5 from Aklan, 3 each from Capiz and Iloilo City, and 1 from Negros Occidental.
The provinces of Antique and Guimaras remain free of the dreaded disease.
The region’s death toll also rose to 5. Of the fatalities, 2 are from Iloilo province and 1 each in Iloilo City, Capiz, and Bacolod City.
The COVID-19 testing center started operating early last week. The Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC) is the only health facility in the region authorized by the DOH to the conduct testing.IMT
