The number of confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Western Visayas is now nearing the 200 mark. 

The Department of Health (DOH-6) reported on Monday, June 22, 15 new cases of COVID-19, the highest single-day increase in the region.

The new cases took the total infection count in the region to 197.

All the 15 new COVID-19 patients are locally stranded individuals (LSIs) from Cebu, according to Dr. Ma. Sophia S. Pulmones, DOH-6 spokesperson.

The asymptomatic patients are currently staying in different quarantine facilities.

The DOH-6 also reported four new recoveries, bringing the total of recovered patients in the region to 114.

Meanwhile, the number of deaths remained at 11.
