The Department of Health (DOH-6) reported 115 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Western Visayas, jacking up the total infections to 2,046.

Majority of the the latest cases came from Iloilo City at 69, followed by Negros Occidental, 28; Bacolod City, 10; Iloilo province, 7; and Aklan, 1.

Eighty-one of the newly logged infections are classified as indigenous or local while the remaining 31 cases involved returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs) and locally stranded individuals (LSIs).

The region’s health department also recorded 37 new recoveries, bringing the total to 994.
