The number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Iloilo has increased to five.
The Department of Health (DOH-6) confirmed on Friday, March 27, three new positive cases in the province and city.
In the province, two women tested positive for the deadly disease, which has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO).
A 59-year-old woman from Barotac Nuevo had no history of travel or exposure to any person infected with the coronavirus.
Mayor Bryant Paul Biron said they will conduct a massive disinfection operation to contain the spread of the disease in their town.
He also issued an executive order placing Ilaud Poblacion and Tabucan, two of their villages, under “heightened community quarantine” from March 28-29.
Another COVID-19 patient in the province is a 22-year-old woman from Miagao. She had a travel history to Manila.
According to Mayor Macario Napulan, the patient traveled to Manila on March 5 and went back to the town on March 10.
He said they already started tracing people who had contact with the patient.
The DOH-6 said the two new COVID-19 patient in the province are both in stable condition.
In Iloilo City, a 72-year-old patient who died on March 19 tested positive for the disease.
The patient had a travel history to Manila and experienced fever and cough.
As of March 27, there are three and two positive cases in the province and city of Iloilo, respectively.
