A courier firm supervisor lost more than P1 million in cash to robbers in the town of Sara, Iloilo on Tuesday morning, Dec. 20.

The incident took place at around 9 a.m. in front of a J&T Express branch in Barangay Apologista.

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Norlan Perante of Sara Municipal Police Station, the victim, identified as Dayana Marie Ciudad, was supposed to remit the money.

“Based on our initial investigation, the two robbers pointed their guns at the supervisor and declared a hold-up. In fear, the victim handed over the money,” he said.

The suspects were on board a motorcyle, Perante added.

A hot pursuit operation was immediately conducted. It resulted in the arrest of one of the robbers in the town of Balasan.

Lyman John Ochenta, a dismissed police officer, was positively identified by the victim as among the armed men who held her up.

In a report by radio station RMN-Iloilo, Ochenta strongly denied his involvement in the incident.

The police failed to recover the cash from the arrested suspect.IMT
