The 94-year-old war veteran who tested positive for the coronavirus diseases 2019 (COVID-19) in the town of Miagao, Iloilo died on Wednesday morning, April 8.
Mayor Macario Napula said the patient with existing pneumonia succumbed to cardiac arrest while confined at the Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC) in Iloilo City.
The patient was confirmed infected with the disease on April 5. He had no history of travel and exposure to a known COVID-19 patient.
The immediate family members of the patient underwent COVID-19 testing on April 6 to find out who among them is the carrier of the deadly virus.
There are now four deaths due to the disease in Iloilo. The other fatalities are from Lambunao (70-year-old male), Guimbal (58-year-old male), and Barotac Nuevo (59-year-old female).
The deaths are included in the 15 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province.IMT
