An indoor swimming pool is being constructed inside the Iloilo Sports Complex in Barangay Magsaysay, La Paz district, Iloilo City.
The new sports facility, which costs around P12 million, is an impact project of the Iloilo Provincial Government.
According to Ray Cabarles of the Iloilo Sports Development and Management Office (ISDMO), the four-lane swimming pool is targeted to be completed by July this year.
He said the sports facility will boost the province’s capacity to host national and international swimming tilts.
“Indoor pool is a requirement for holding national and international swimming competitions. By having it, we can hold such competitions soon,” he told IMT NEWS.
The provincial government is positioning Iloilo as one of the top sports tourism destinations in the country.
“We construct this to create an inclusive community where all ages can enjoy swimming as a sports and as a recreation,” said ISDMO head Ma. Janelyn Fundal.
For Ilonggo swimmer Alexander Quiton, the indoor swimming pool project is a big help for them.
“As a swimmer, indoor pool is very important because makatabon gid sa ma-init na adlaw and ‘di man sa amo na para kung mag-ulan mapatuloy man dyapon ang games,” he said.IMT
