The improvement and concreting of roads in Nueva Valencia, Guimaras have provided a wider accessibility and travel mobilization to its villages and to neighboring barangays and towns.
In a press report, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) VI said the villages of Cabalagnan and Brgy. Salvacion in Nueva Valencia benefited from the P56.2 million General Appropriations Act (GAA) 2021-funded construction of 2.7 kilometers of pavement which was implemented by DPWH Guimaras District Engineering Office.
Citing report from District Engineer Rhodara Nuñal, DPWH 6 Regional Director Nerie D. Bueno said the improved roadway aims to provide better road access for basic goods and services as well as a better travel experience for tourists.
“The concrete road ensures safe road access for transporting basic goods and services, as well as a better travel experience for tourists visiting various popular tourist destinations in Guimaras,” said Bueno.
Furthermore, the road’s completion provides an alternate route to Cabalagnan Fish Landing, the main drop-off point for fresh seafood. It also serves as a gateway to popular tourist destinations like Sun Sea Resort, Rumagangrang Beach Resort, and Yato Island.
“DPWH has always served as a bridge between people’s needs and leisure activities. This project improves access to public facilities such as public markets, schools, clinics, and other establishments for the people of Guimaras,” said Bueno.jbg/dpwh6/laf/PIA6-Iloilo
