The Iloilo City Government urged the public to practice the “Clean as You Go” or CLAYGO method.

Councilor Rudolph Jeffrey Ganzon said that it is everyone’s responsibility to keep their sorroundings clean.

“Let us not rely on street sweepers, janitors and establishment personnel to clean our own mess,” he stressed.

On Monday, Jan. 13, city officials headed by Mayor Jerry P. Treñas and department heads signed a pledge of commitment to promote the CLYGO method.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) recently passed a resolution requesting the city government to support and encourage the general public and the private/public establishments to practice the CLAYGO method.

Ganzon, who sponsored the resolution, said the method encourages everyone to make cleaning a part of their daily routine.

The resolution also urged all universities and schools, all commercial and industrial establishments such as hotels, restaurants, hopsitals, cinema houses, public markets, department stores, groceries, food chains, kiosks, and workplaces to provide sufficient trash bins and other facilities intended for clean-up.

Moreover, locals and tourists are encouraged to dispose their garbage properly in trash bins to make a safe, healthy and cleaner environment.

“This action aims to minimize the risks of having health, hygiene, safety and sanitation issues,” a part of the resolution read.IMT
