The celebration of Christmas and New Year in the city and province of Iloilo is “generally peaceful.”

No major incident occurred in Iloilo from December 14 to 31, 2019, according to the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) offices in the city and province.

Police Colonel Martin Defensor Jr., Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) director, thanked the public for cooperating with law enforcement agencies.

Just like in previous years, the ICPO enforced strict security measures to prevent lawlessness and violence.

Meanwhile, Police Colonel Roland Vilela, Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) director, said the “strengthened information campaign, monitoring, coordination, and police operations” helped achieve the peaceful celebration of the holidays.

The IPPO recorded zero stray bullet incident.

Vilela praised gun owners for being responsible.

The IPPO recorded four stabbing, one hacking, and two shooting incidents. It also registered one road crash incident.IMT
