The resumption of direct flights from Iloilo to Singapore and Hong Kong and vice versa is not in Cebu Pacific’s immediate plans, according to Mayor Jerry Treñas.
The city mayor requested the airline to restart its international flights at the Iloilo Airport in the town of Cabatuan.
“Cebu Pacific Air responded to my letter request allowing the resumption of flights to Hongkong and Singapore,” said Treñas.
“Although it is not in their immediate plans, they have opened more flights for us locally. We get to unwind and travel to our favorite destinations,” he added.
Cebu Pacific is set to resume Puerto Princesa, Palawan and Cagayan de Oro routes via Iloilo in June this year.
Flights between Iloilo and Puerto Princesa will be offered four times weekly, every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, starting June 23.
On the other hand, operations between the Iloilo International Airport and the Laguindingan Airport in Cagayan de Oro will begin on June 24.
The Iloilo-Cagayan de Oro-Iloilo routes will be offered thrice weekly, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
“Cebu Pacific had to stop the Iloilo-Puerto Princesa and Iloilo-Cagayan De Oro routes because of the pandemic, when many airlines suspended their operations due to the threat of COVID-19,” said Cebu Pacific spokesperson Carmina Romero.IMT
