Student-athletes who won medals in this year’s Palarong Pambansa will receive cash incentives from the Iloilo Provincial Government.
Under Provincial Ordinance No. 2020-217, Iloilo provincial athletes, coaches, assistant coaches, trainers, and chaperones who excel in sports competitions sanctioned by the Department of Education (DepEd), Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Olympic Committee are entitled to get cash incentives.
Gold medalists will receive P8,000, silver medalists will be given P6,000 and bronze medalists will get P4,000 each. Their coaches and trainers will also be given the same amounts.
Assistant coaches will get the following amounts: P5,000 (gold), P4,000 (silver) and P2,500 (bronze). For chaperons, the amounts are P3,000 (gold), P2,000 (silver) and P1,000 (bronze).
In a statement, Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. congratulated “the exceptional athletes” from the province for their “outstanding victories at the 2023 Palarong Pambansa.”
“Your dedication, hard work, and sportsmanship have truly shone brightly, bringing pride and honor to your province,” he said.
“May your achievements inspire the youth and your community to reach for greatness. Well done, Iloilo champions,” the governor added.IMT
