Independent analytics group Octa Research observed “very high” COVID-19 positivity rates in three Western Visayas provinces.
These provinces, according to OCTA Research fellow Guido David, are Capiz, Aklan and Antique.
As of July 30, Capiz recorded a positivity rate of 51.2 percent, higher than the 30.6 percent logged in the province on July 23.
In Aklan and Antique, positivity rates increased to 36.9 percent and 28.7 percent, respectively.
The positivity rate—a measure of the spread of COVID-19 in a given area—refers to the percentage of people who test positive out of the total number tested during a certain period.
David said a positivity rate of more than 20 percent is considered “very high.”
Based on the August 1 bulletin released by the Department of Health (DOH-6), Capiz has 196 active cases of COVID-19, Aklan has 262 and Antique has 161.IMT
