More of less 100 cyclists in Guimaras and neighboring provinces will join in a bike caravan as part of Guimaras’ Dragon Fruit Fest on Sept. 29.
The island province, led by Governor JC Rahman Nava, will open the first Dragon Fruit Fest in Western Visayas on Sept. 29-30, 2022.
Before the formal opening, a bike caravan on September 29 will open the two-day festivities.
Around 10 associations of bikers will pedal from Jordan Wharf going to the Provincial Capitol Grounds. The event will kick off at 6:30 a.m. with cyclists from Guimaras and neighboring provinces participating in the event.
The bike caravan is one of the activities of the Guimaras Dragon Fruit Fest that will highlight one of the focus aspects of the celebration – health and wellness.
For Guimaras biker Russel Liñgat, he said the event will bring more fun and excitement as well as boost more biking activities in the island.
“For me this event will kick off more bike events pa kag pwde man nga possible collaboration sang mga local bike associations sa mga amo ni nga event kay tanan gin involve maski sa planning stage pa lang. It will also promote tourism, promote dragon fruit festival, and to introduce sang mga food products nga ga use dragon fruit as ingredients,” he added.
As biking has a lot of health benefits, the Bike Caravan is a toast to Guimaras’ aim to be recognized as the Bike Paradise of the Philippines.IMT Sports
