More than P4 million worth of shabu or crystal meth was confiscated by police from a “high-value” drug suspect in Barangay Poblacion Delgado, Calinog, Iloilo on Thursday night, Oct. 12.
The suspect, identified as Joemari “Jom” Celestial, was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Calinog Municipal Police Station (MPS) at around 8:30 p.m.
Seized from Celestial were 26 plastic sachets containing more or less 600 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P4,080,000.00.
The 30-year-old suspect had been under surveillance for almost six months, according to Police Major Myles Dieron, Calinog MPS chief.
A formal complaint for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Act of 2002 will be filed against Celestial.
Police Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor, Police Regional Office (PRO-6) director, lauded the Calinog MPS “for a job well done.”
“Isa na naman pong napakalaking accomplishment ito para sa atin. Masaya po ako na nahuli natin at nakumpiska ang mga iligal na droga bago pa man ito makasira ng buhay ng ating mga kababayan lalo na ng ating mga kabataan. Magtulungan po tayo para mapagtagumpayan po natin ang laban na ito,” he said.IMT
