Several mayors in the province of Capiz are pushing for the installation of sanitary land fills in every municipality.

“I suggest to CAPENRO head Atty. Emilyn Arbolida Dipon that each municipality must have its own sanitary land fill with the assistance of the provincial government,” Panitan Mayor Katherine Belo said in an interview with IMT News.

Panitan was the proposed site of a sanitary land fill for all 16 towns in Capiz however, it was turned down by the previous administration. Belo and the town’s residents also opposed the the proposal.

Since the town of Panitan refused the proposed project, the provincial government offered it to Pontevedra. But Mayor Esteban “Evan” Espinosa Contreras (father of Governor Nonoy Contreras) likewise turned down and suggested to place it in Sigma town.

Maayon Mayor Raymond Malapajo agreed with Belo. He also suggested that to have a clustering of sanitary land fill among the towns.

“For example, the Maayon, Cuartero and Dao towns considering lapitay lang, dapat may ara kami common sanitary land fill nga tatlo,” he said.IMT
