After a month of competitive tournaments, the towns of Barotac Viejo, Ajuy, and San Dionisio have emerged victorious in the recently-concluded Boboy-Binky District Cup also known as “BiBo Cup” 2022.

Volleybelles from Barotac Viejo, Iloilo outplayed Balasan, Iloilo in the championship round to clinch the first ever Women’s Volleyball title.

Team Ajuy, Iloilo also showed formidable performance in the finale, hammering Carles, Iloilo to snatch the coveted 21 Under Basketball championship title.

Completing the list of new champions, Team San Dionisio delivered the killer blows down the stretch and outplayed Concepcion to win the 12 Under Basketball championship trophy.

A total of 11 teams from all towns in the Fifth District of Iloilo supported the event during its kick off at the Civic Center of San Dionisio, Iloilo.

The tournament was organized by 5th District Congressman Raul “Boboy” Tupas, Board Member Binky Tupas and supported by leaders from the towns of Barotac Viejo, San Rafael, Ajuy, Sara, Concepcion, Lemery, San Dionisio, Batad, Balasan, Estancia, and Carles.

 

BIBO [adjective] is a Tagalog and millennial slang which means alert, active mind, bright and sharp. In the Fifth District, it means Binky and Boboy bringing a BiBo kind of leadership.

According to Estancia Vice Mayor Mark Cordero, the first ever tournament was a success because it unites players, coaches and town leaders in the Fifth District of Iloilo.

“It exposed the athletes’ sportsmanship and camaraderie every game. It was a successful cup and we look forward for next year’s staging,” he added.IMT Sports
