Barangay tanods (village watchmen) in the province of Iloilo will receive cash incentives next month.
According to Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., the provincial government allocated around P17 million to be given as financial assistance to barangay tanods.
Like other barangay workers who take home incentives every end of the year, tanods also deserve to get cash gift, the governor said.
Tanods are considered sub-minimum wage earners. They only receive honoraria or allowances which range from P1,000 or even below dependent on the financial capacity of the barangay.Angelique Amira Jabian/IMT
