Arnisadors from Bago City (Area 4) showed the entire repertoire as they bagged the overall championship in the 2019 Palarong Panlalawigan arnis competition held at the Bacolod Arts Center.

The Bago City athletes collected a total of 23 gold, 6 silver and 2 bronze medals for the combined elementary and secondary levels.

The elementary boys won 5 gold and silver medals while the girls got 6 gold and a silver medal while the secondary boys hauled 8 gold, a silver and a bronze medal, and the girls 4 gold, a pair of silver, and a bronze medal.

Coach Brian Martir shared that after the 2019 Provincial Meet ended, they now turned their focus to the upcoming WVRAA meet in Aklan. 

“This feat won’t be possible without the help of the City Government of Bago headed Mayor Nicholas Yulo and Vice Mayor Ramon Torres, DepEd Division of Bago City led by SDS Alan Yap and ASDS Lynee Penaflor and EPS in-charge in sports Leo Dayot,” he added. 

He also thanked City Sports Officer Ignacio Denila, who gave his full support as well as our Principal Jonaida Gasendo, the faculty, and staff of Ramon Torres National High School. Also our heartfelt thanks to Bago City Elementary School headed by its principal Richard Tanaman Sayco and its faculty and staff,” Martir said.

Martir also thanked everyone – the parents, YSAC, friends, and relatives who tirelessly came everyday to the venue to cheer and gave support. “Above all to, I thanked our loving and gracious God for this achievement,” he said.

The second placers Bacolod City got 10 gold, 20 silver and 8 bronze medals, while third finisher Negros Occidental High School (Area 9) had 3 gold, 8 silver, and 9 bronze medals.IMT
