The elementary girls’ volleyball team of Ateneo de Iloilo (AdI) retained the title in the 2019 Iloilo Schools Sports Association (ISSA) Meet at the Ateneo de Iloilo, Oct. 15.
Known as Blue Dragonettes, the blue-shirted volleybelles outlasted St. Joseph School in the gold medal match, 25-11, 25-11.
The Vanlinh Clemente-trained players showed an emphatic performance through solid spikes and powerful blocks. Wellah Franzee Bajada paced the back-to-back champions, along with teammates, setter Emmanuelle Monique Lubis and spikers Nicole Servano, Leigh Ayen Malayang, Emilia Francesca Ganzon, and Gaudrielle Angela Franco.
Blue Dragonettes is also comprised of Julliana Bless Apostol, Ashley Deanon, Nicole Francesca Quiblatin, Arviel Kerzy Bachoco, Ma. Chloe Samantha Louise Zabal, Johanna Margaret Colmo, Sophia Gabrielle Colmo, Zoe Yap, Jorja Andrea Diasnes, Maria Samantha Cristobal, Riznelle Angelique Baron, and Darla Christella Testigo.
The team also ruled the taekwondo events of the week-long competition. The team was hailed overall champion in the secondary boys’ Kyorugi, Individual Poomsae and Team Poomsae. The team was trained by coaches Denmark Pinggol and Janjan Gersanib.IMT
