At least 400 establishments in Iloilo City have been awarded with safety seal certifications for following the minimum health and safety protocols against the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The Safety Seal Certification program is a voluntary certification scheme that affirms that an establishment is compliant with the minimum public health standards set by the government and integrates its contact tracing efforts with StaySafe.ph.
Out of around 13, 000 establishments in the city, Business Processing and Licensing Office (BPLO) head Norman Tabud said they are targeting to have at least five percent of them granted with safety seals by December this year.
The city government has been encouraging business operators to apply to the safety seal certification.
“If establishments have safety seals, customers can assure of a safe visit and everyone will be protected,” said Mayor Jerry Treñas.
Under Executive Order No. 60 Series of 2021, which created the Iloilo City Safety Seal Certification Program Inspection and Certification Committee, the BPLO is as head of the Inspection Team.
The BPLO is assigned to inspect business establishments; the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for government agencies and offices; and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for supermarkets and grocery stores.IMT
