The municipality of San Jose de Buenavista reported an increase in payment of business tax amid the pandemic last year.
In the Laging Handa Network Briefing program aired, March 10, with Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar, Mayor Elmer Untaran said that despite the hard impact of the pandemic last year, San Jose de Buenavista has collected an increase of more than P1 million in the payment of business tax last January 2021.
San Jose, being the capital town of the province and the center of business trade and commerce, also felt the negative impact of the lockdown particularly during the months of March to October last year.
However, due to its progressive economy prior to the lockdown, where lots of investors have intention to put up or expand their businesses in San Jose, they were able to do it this January during the time of registration for new businesses and renewal of business permits.
The data gathered from the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO), according to Mayor Untaran, registered an increase of more than a million payment of business taxes.
He also cited the benefits of having a functional fishing port which has been in operation for almost two months now.
The fishing boat operators have benefitted from the cold storage facility of the fishing port where the huge catch of Tuna and other fishes are stored and properly exported to other areas.
Untaran also said that they intend to convert San Jose Fishing Port to Feeder Port and improve the storage and other facilities to expand the use of the port from the fish catch to other valuable/agricultural products of the province.
On the other hand, he also expressed appreciation for the support of Antique’s Lone District Representative and Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda for her initiatives of putting a lot of projects in the province.
Likewise, he also mentioned the developmental outlook and good governance of Governor Rhodora Cadiao who have partnered with LGU San Jose for various development endeavors of the province.JBG/PSM/PIA-Antique
