Almost all barangays in the towns of Ajuy, Iloilo were affected by flooding, according to Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) head Cris Palomado.
Ajuy, which is considered a low-lying place, is prone to floods, according to Palomado. It has 34 barangays and a total population of 53,462 as of 2020.
Based on data from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), Ajuy has the highest number of affected families.
As of 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, the town has recorded 17,335 affected families or 59,942 persons.
In an interview with IMT NEWS, Lorgelyn Mea of the MDRRMO said their relief operations were ongoing.
“May tatlo lang kit aka mga barangays (Pantalan Navarro, Rojas, and Bucana Bunglas) ang indi pa masudlan kay ang current sang tubig makusog,” she said.
So far, no casualties or missing persons have been reported in Ajuy.IMT
