All the 14 infected returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the province and city of Iloilo have recovered from the deadly coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). 

The Department of Health (DOH-6) confirmed on Tuesday, May 26, the recovery of the province’s two remaining coronavirus-positive repatriated OFWs.

The new recoveries include a 33-year-old male from Dingle town and a 32-year-old male from Pavia town.

The province recorded four OFWs who tested positive for COVID-19, while the city logged 10 cases that involve repatriates.

The total number of infected repatriates in the whole Western Visayas region currently stands at 33, with 22 recoveries.

The Department of Health (DOH-6) registered 729 repatriated OFWs in the region from April 9 to May 24.

According to Dr. Renilyn Reyes, DOH-6 spokesperson, the 729 belonged to the first eight batches of repatriates from Manila and Cebu.

“They were all tested using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test kits,” she said.

As of Tuesday aftsrnoon, the Western Visayas Medical Center, the lone DOH-accredited COVID-19 testing center in the region, has released 425 laboratory results.

“The results for the remaining samples are still pending,” Reyes said.IMT
