Taekwondo jins from Aklan brought home eight medals in the recent 2019 World Peace Taekwondo Festival held recently at the Shinhan University in Seoul, South Korea.
Representing the squad, Fyll Krystyl Xylyl Oliva, native of Poblacion, Kalibo, Aklan and a student of Infant Jesus Academy, led the team with three gold medals in the five day tournament.
In addition, Alexander Bell, a pride of Cawayan, New Washington, Aklan and a student of Starglow Center for Academics and Arts, heated other competing teams after snatching one gold and two silver medals.
Lil Mayden Niverca from Briones, Kalibo, Aklan also chipped in one gold and one silver medal in the competition.
Ilonggo jins also made waves in the tournament. CPU’s Quinn Pauline Hormigoso won two gold medals in individual Poomsae and mixed poomsae, along with a bronze in kyorugi. Assumption Iloilo’s Sophia Tungala captured two gold medals in individual Poomsae and kyorugi, plus a silver in a mixed pair event.
Antonio Miguel Nafarrete also bagged gold medals in individual Poomsae and kyorugi, along with a silver in a mixed pair event while Ayna Tajanlangit won gold medals in individual poomsae and mixed pair, plus a bronze in kyorugi. Jesseray Frantilla clinched gold medals in kyorugi and a mixed pair event, along with a bronze in individual Poomsae; while Ben Capadosa won gold medals in individual Poomsae and kyorugi.
Team Philippines took home 25 gold, nine silver and seven bronze medals in the kyorugi event and 31 gold, 11 silver, and four bronze medal in the poomsae event. IMT
