Three local government units (LGUs) in the province of Iloilo have allocated funds to purchase vaccines against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The LGU of Ajuy set aside P10 million for COVID-19 vaccine procurement.
Mayor Jett Rojas said they would prioritize frontliners and members of vulnerable sectors like senior citizens.
Concepcion, on the other hand, earmarked P3 million to buy the vaccines and inoculate residents of the area.
Mayor Raul Banias said they would follow the priority list of vaccine recipients set by the national government and the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).
In San Enrique, Mayor Mediatrix Fernandez announced that the LGU provided an initial allocation of P1 million for the vaccines.
The amount will be sourced from the local government’s 5% Risk Reduction and Management Fund.
The LGUs have yet to decide which brand of the vaccines to procure.
On Jan. 10, the Iloilo Provincial Government signed a multilateral agreement with AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals Philippines Inc., and the national government for the advance purchase of the vaccines.
The province will initially purchase 270,000 doses of the vaccines amounting to US$1,350,000.IMT
