Showing formidable performances, teams from Ajuy, Barotac Viejo and Lemery are still undefeated in the Basketball 21 and Under of the ongoing Boboy-Binky (BiBo) Cup in Northern Iloilo.

As of Oct. 25, 2022, Ajuy leads the Bracket B with three wins already while Barotac Viejo and Lemery both shared the top spot in Bracket A with two wins apiece.

Ajuy capitalized on their hot shooting as Kevin Laurence Apitong topscored with 28 big points, six steals, and three assists to outplay Concepcion, 98-90.

Leading the squad, Jayferson Olmos steered Barotac Viejo with 13 points, seven rebounds and one assist to hammer San Dionisio, 89-70. Kevin Juaneza erupted with 10 points, three rebounds, two assists, a block, and a steal to lead Lemery in blasting San Dionisio, 70-57.

In Bracket A, towns of San Dionisio and Estancia are still winless after two games, while Concepcion has two wins and a loss. Balasan has one win and one loss while Batad has one win and two losses. Carles and San Rafael are still winless after two weeks of competitions.

Exciting hits and attacks also wowed the crowd in the women’s volleyball with Balasan and Concepcion both ruling their respective brackets. Balasan has three victories already at the expense of Carles, and San Rafael. Concepcion also showed the entire repertoire in Bracket A after registering two wins over Estancia.

In Bracket A, Estancia is behind Concepcion with two wins and a loss, while Lemery, Ajuy, and Batad complete the top five respectively. In Bracket B. Concepcion has three wins and a loss while Sara and San Rafael have 2-2 and 1-2 records, separately. Carles and San Dionisio are still winless.

A total of 11 teams from different towns in Northern Iloilo are competing in the BiBo Cup. The tournament was organized by Iloilo Fifth District Congressman Raul “Boboy” Tupas and Board Member Binky Tupas with the support of leaders from the towns of Barotac Viejo, San Rafael, Ajuy, Sara, Concepcion, Lemery, San Dionisio, Batad, Balasan, Estancia, and Carles.

All teams compete in volleyball and basketball games which will run until December 2022. There are two age categories for both volleyball and basketball – 21 years old under and 14 years old under.

“BIBO” is a Tagalog and millennial slang which means alert, active mind, bright and sharp. In the Fifth District, it means Binky and Boboy bringing a BiBo kind of leadership.IMT Sports
