Flights between Manila and Sicogon Island in Carles, Iloilo are set to resume in December this year.
AirSWIFT, a boutique airline under Ayala Corporation, will reopen its Manila-Sicogon-Manila route on December 16.
The airline company launched the route in October 2018. Its 48-seater ATR42-600 serviced the route thrice a week or every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.
The private airport in Sicogon temporarily stopped its operations due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Ayala Land constructed a 1.3-kilometer runway and airport facility
as part of its redevelopment of the 1,100-hectare island.
The redevelopment project aims to make Sicogon a premier tourist destination and a tourism hub for Western Visayas.
Ayala already opened Huni Sicugon and Balay Kogon on the island.
Huni Sicogon is a 2-storey, 52-key boutique resort. Its beachfront location gives panoramic views of the seaside and of nearby Mt. Opao.
Balay Kogon, meanwhile, is a boutique bed-and-breakfast accommodation along the pristine Buaya Beach.IMT
