The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-6) has vowed to come up with a better system in the distribution of cash assistance for indigent students in Western Visayas.
The distribution of the one-time educational cash assistance on Friday, Aug. 20, at the Iloilo Sports Complex and five other payout sites in the region were marred with chaos.
DSWD will resume the payout on August 27 and September 3, 10, 17 and 24.
Beneficiaries were advised to register first online to avoid crowding.
“For registration, applicants may fill out an online form through https://bit.ly/dswdfo6EducAssistance; scan a QR code, or send an email to dswd.educassistance@gmail.com,” DSWD-6 said.
“Also, emails to extension offices and messages sent to designated mobile phone numbers earlier disseminated will be catered to schedule the assessment of clients,” it added.
DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo said they will tap local government units (LGUs) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to help distribute the cash aid.
